How does the app use the permissions asked when installing?

We do not collect any personally identifiable information from your device. The permissions are used as follows:

Storage (Photos/Media/Files)

The app need to store the recordings in a location not specific to the app, so the recordings (by default) will stay on your device when the app is uninstalled.

Microphone: record audio

Obviously, we need this. Otherwise, the app won’t be able to record any sound.

Wi-Fi connection information: view Wi-Fi connections

You can transfer files from your phone to your computer using your home’s Wi-Fi network using the Wi-Fi Transfer feature. The app displays the name of the Wi-Fi network the device is currently connected to. We do not collect the name (SSID) or MAC address of your Wi-Fi network.

Device ID & call information: read phone status and identity

This permission is needed to detect when there is ongoing phone conversation so the recording can be stopped without getting the corrupted audio signals that sometimes can happen on certain devices. Your phone number, IMEI, MEID, calls, or any other identities are not collected.

If you have any doubt, please contact help@hiqrecorder.com and we will clarify it.
